Wagering
Made Easy Wagering Guide
Wagering
might at first seem complicated, but with some useful information,
it really doesn’t have to be. This guide has been developed
to help you learn more about the types of wagers available at
Dairyland. Take a few moments to read the following information
and with a little luck, you’ll be on your way to picking winners.
Pari-Mutuel Wagering
Greyhound racing is a pari-mutuel wagering sport, which
means that you are playing against other patrons, not the house.
The term pari-mutuel, which literally means “betting among ourselves,”
ensures that you never wager against the track, you only wager
against other players. The track simply acts as your agent
and collects a percentage as determined by Wisconsin State Law.
This form of wagering provides better odds of winning, as approximately
80% of all money wagered is returned to the public. The
other 20% withheld is distributed to the track, the State of
Wisconsin, and purses for the winning greyhounds.
The ABC’s
of Placing Your Wager
When you are ready to place your wager and you reach the Mutuel
window, an easy way to remember the procedure is to think
“A-B-C”.
A - First, state the AMOUNT
you want to wager. (Minimum $2)
B - Next, give the teller
the BET type. (Win, Place, Show, Quiniela, Trifecta, etc.)
C - Then, list your CHOICE(S)
of greyhound(s) by number.
Be sure to have your money ready as this will speed up the process.
Finally, remember to always check your ticket(s) for accuracy
before leaving the window and always hold your tickets until
the race is declared “official”.

Twin Trifecta - (Mandatory
pay-out every Thursday night of live racing - No payout Nov.
24, 2005 or Dec. 22 & 29, 2005, payouts moved to Nov. 23, 2005 and
Dec. 31, 2005)
You must select the three greyhounds that finish
first, second and third in exact order in the 5th race.
(Minimum wager, $2.00) If you have a winning ticket, you
must exchange that ticket and select the first three finishers
in the 6th race. 25% of the net money wagered on each program’s
Twin Trifecta is distributed to the first half winners when
tickets are presented for exchange in the 6th race. The
remaining 75% of the net pool is divided among the winners of
the second half. If a winning first half Twin Trifecta ticket
is not presented for exchange before the running of the 6th
race, the cash value attached to the winning first half tickets
may still be collected, but all rights to the distribution of
the second half pool are forfeited unless specified by other
rules. Patrons should hold all Twin Trifecta tickets until official
results are posted and announced. If no patron correctly selects
the first half of the Twin Tri, patrons holding tickets with
the first and second place finishers, in correct order, will
share in the first half payoff. When no one correctly
selects the exact order of the first half of the Twin-Tri, there
are no exchange tickets and the Twin Trifecta carryover balance
goes directly to the Jackpot for the next performance.
Every Thursday night of Live racing Dairyland will have
a mandatory Twin Trifecta payout. That's when we guarantee
the carryover pool will be paid out, perfect ticket or not.
If no one has a perfect second-half ticket, the carryover pool
is split by all the first-half winners! The wager
is based on a minimum $2 wager, however $1 wagers are available
for boxes, keys and wheels. No mandatory payout
Nov. 24, 2005 or Dec. 22 & 29, 2005, payouts moved to Nov. 23, 2005
and Dec. 31, 2005.
Tri-Super
This is similar to the Twin Trifecta but you must select the
top four finishers in the second half. The carryover jackpot
will continue to grow until someone selects both halves correctly
or until the last live greyhound performance of the month, when
the jackpot will be frozen and then there will be a mandatory
payout of that jackpot on the following Thursday nights in 2005:
February 10, March 10, April 7, May 5, June 9, July 7, August
11, September 8, October 6, November 10, December 8 and Saturday
night, December 31. The wager is based
on a minimum $2 wager, however $1 wagers are available for boxes,
keys and wheels.

How To Collect
If your ticket is a winner, take it to any available Mutuel
Window after the race is declared OFFICIAL. You may take
the full amount in payment or wager back part or all of it if
you wish on upcoming races. The amount you wager will
automatically be deducted from your winnings.
Do not hesitate to have your ticket checked at any available
window if you think it may be a winner. It only takes
a few seconds and any teller will be happy to check your ticket
for you. Also, please try to avoid cashing winning tickets
with less than five minutes to post time for the next race.
Many patrons prefer to wait until those last few minutes to
make their wagers and cashing a winning ticket can slow the
process.
