Dot's Elwood Captures All-Star Challenge Stakes

Kenosha, Wis. — Dot's Elwood captured his second stakes race of the season when he came home to victory in the 7th running of the All-Star Challenge Stakes Race, Tuesday night, July 7.  Going into the race, Dot's Elwood, from the Tapestry kennel, was the top vote-getter going into the All-Star field.  The Tapestry kennel speedster headed the rest of the All-Stars by three and a half lengths over Big Run Gizmo in a time of 31.27 seconds over the 5/16th mile course.  Season win-leader RL Annett finished third.

Dot's Elwood broke from the seven box and charged to the front end at the first turn and kept the lead to the wire.

Trainer John Sappington liked his chances in the race.

"He has been running good and I liked the hole he drew," said Sappington.  "I knew he to get out in front of Otto Magic."

Otto Magic was the wagering favorite in the race, who ran into major traffic problems in the first turn.
When asked about the fans selections for the All-Star field, Sappington gave them a thumbs up.
"The fans definitely selected a good field, said Sappington.  "It was a tough field to go against."

With Dot's Elwood second in total wins for the season, now five behind win leader RL Annett, he hopes that his multi-stakes winning champ can hold his own and come on strong after Dairyland's All-Star break.
