(1/1/2006) - Bop Takes Inaugural
Westvirginia Bop continued to dominate during the holiday season. Bop won his 7th in a row and did it against a tough Inaugural field. The Sunrunner sprinter rushed out of the 7 box to grab a two length lead at the first turn. He maintained that lead around the oval, until the stretch, when Amf Ball Four (J&J; Calabro Kennel) closed within a length. Ball Four settled for second in the race and Roosters Roger from Shirrun Kennel finished third.

Westvirginia Bop became the first greyhound since Rl Annett in 1998/99 to win the Au Revoir and then come right back to win the Inaugural. Congratulations to Bop, the Sunrunner Kennel, trainer John Sappington and owners Arlene and Clyde Nelson.
